City Centre Liberal Democrats are leading the way in trying to green the city centre.

After months of lobbying at the Town Hall, Lib Dems have finally managed to get the green light for street trees to be planted along Whitworth Street West.

“We hope that this will be the first of many more street trees and other planting schemes” said City Centre Cllr Elaine Boyes. “It’s taken far longer than it should have done, but Labour’s Town Hall bosses have been dragging their feet, but the trees should be in place later this year” she added.

STOP PRESS: After complaints from local residents, Cllr Elaine Boyes has now also got the Council to place new litter bins along Whitworth Street West.
